Nordic Preparedness
Nordic Preparedness gathers leader areas in Sweden, Finland, and Åland to strengthen knowledge and collaboration around crisis management and civil preparedness. The goal is safer local communities that are stronger in the face of future challenges.
About the project
How can we be better prepared for crises in the Nordic countries – together? Nordic Preparedness is a transnational cooperation project where leader areas in Sweden, Finland, and Åland learn from each other about civil preparedness, crisis management, and sustainability.
The project aims to increase knowledge and strengthen cooperation between civil society and public actors, among other things through study trips, joint meetings, and exchanges of experience. The goal is to create safer local communities that are stronger in the face of future challenges.

Activities
First startup meeting in Sweden
The first conference in the project was held in Jönköping County, where we visited the Rescue Service in Jönköping, the Volunteer Automobile Corps FAK in Jönköping County, the Gränna Civil Defense Association, the village of Nydala where we got to try purifying water and cooking outdoor meals, and listened to how the village of Tolg works to strengthen preparedness in its area through its roots. We also heard how municipalities work with safety points in slightly different ways and how the County Administrative Board's assignments look. Over 80 people, including visitors from Finland and Åland, participated.
Activities
Study trip to Finland
During the spring, the Swedish leader areas traveled to Ostrobothnia and the area around Seinäjoki to visit Leader Liiveri and Leader Suupohja.
Together with the County Administrative Board, safety coordinators, LRF, the Red Cross, and others, we learned more about how our neighbors work with civil preparedness. Among other things, we learned much more about how the Finns work with civil duty, self-sufficiency, shelters, biofuels and energy.

How much water do we really have if a crisis occurs? Welcome to learn more about preparedness and drinking water supply in a webinar with the Nordic Preparedness project. Presentations by Karin Gustavsson (preparedness officer at the Swedish Food Agency, Unit for Drinking Water Supply) and Sara Andersson (preparedness officer/National Coordinator for Drinking Water, County Administrative Board of Jönköping County).

The board's motivation
The project will strengthen preparedness in the community, especially in rural areas. Leader can become a platform where the public meets the voluntary sector on these issues.
