Cultural heritage power

Through this project, Coompanion aims to preserve and present the cultural heritage of rural areas in a way that engages both the local population and visitors. The purpose is to strengthen the connection to the cultural heritage and promote sustainable cultural tourism.

About the project

Many tourists seek out the countryside to experience local history, traditions, and unique activities. The project will strengthen and develop the local cultural heritage while enriching the offerings for cultural tourism in rural areas. By making visible and accessible cultural heritage that is otherwise invisible or hard to reach, the project highlights stories, traditions, and local legends that provide a deeper understanding of the area's history. The goal is to spread this knowledge both geographically and between generations for a sustainable transfer of the cultural heritage.

With the support of Coompanion's cooperative methods, cultural heritage preservation is combined with entrepreneurial development. The project strengthens the local population's connection to their home area and provides skills development for both new and established actors in tourism and culture. By adding knowledge about cooperative entrepreneurship, conditions are created for sustainable businesses, increased local engagement, and long-term economic growth.

Cultural Heritage Power is also part of the local initiative ”Expedition Cultural Heritage” – which consists of three different projects that share the purpose of preserving cultural heritage in Småland. These are run individually by Leader Linné Småland (Cultural Villages), the Adult Education Association Kronoberg (The Local Cultural Gold), and Coompanion Kronoberg (Cultural Heritage Power).
