The history of the people of Småland

Through the collaboration between Sagobygden and Hildurs Vänner, podcast episodes are created that highlight Småland's history through living stories, drama, and local knowledge. The series makes the region's cultural heritage accessible to a broad audience and strengthens the understanding of people's lives and stories in the community.

About the project

The project aims to produce eight episodes of the podcast Folkets Historia in collaboration with the association Hildurs Vänner. The podcast episodes will depict historical events and stories from Småland and Sagobygden, based on local knowledge, archival material, oral tradition, and cultural heritage. The purpose is to spread the region's history nationally, strengthen Sagobygden's profile, and give more people access to living and educational storytelling.

The episodes are published on established podcast platforms, complemented with film trailers and digital material, and are intended to have a sustainable lifespan of at least ten years. The project strengthens Sagobygden's competence in audio and film production and connects local historical research with professional drama production.

The board's motivation

LAG prioritizes the project because it develops a new way to combine podcasting and drama to highlight local history. Through collaboration between several non-profit actors, a cultural project is created that strengthens the storytelling tradition. Through digital dissemination, these stories are made accessible to more people, regardless of where they live.

Note that the Swedish Board of Agriculture makes the formal decision.
