Cultural Villages

Cultural Villages is a transnational cooperation project together with two other Leader areas: Leader Phojois-Satakunta ry in Finland and Rural Partnership Lieupe in Latvia. The project aims to highlight the cultural heritage of the countryside through local and international meetings. Through study visits and exchanges of experience, participating rural areas have the opportunity to learn, showcase, and enrich their cultural heritage, which can contribute to both cultural and economic development. This not only strengthens the local population's ”roots,” but also serves as a resource for developing cultural tourism and community activities. The project is implemented throughout the Leader Linné area and includes study trips to Finland and Latvia.

Cultural Villages is also part of the local initiative ”Expedition Cultural Heritage” – which consists of three different projects that share the purpose of preserving cultural heritage in Småland. These are individually run by Leader Linné Småland (Cultural Villages), the Adult Education Association Kronoberg (The Local Cultural Gold), and Coompanion Kronoberg (Cultural Heritage Power).

Project activities

Cultural Heritage Competition and Vernissage

In the spring of 2025, the project announced a competition - The Hunt for Local Cultural Treasures. Everyone in the leader area could submit contributions with their local cultural heritage. A total of 29 contributions were received, and a jury selected 10 winners, who were immortalized with a painting and celebrated at a vernissage during Rural Week on May 8th.
