Älmhult Cycling Destination

– pre-study

Expedition Älmhult wants to investigate how Älmhult municipality can develop into a sustainable and attractive cycling destination.

About the project

Expedition Älmhult wants to investigate how Älmhult municipality can develop into a sustainable and attractive cycling destination. The pre-study maps needs, potential, and opportunities through interviews, workshops, and environmental analysis. The work culminates in a concrete proposal for a new bike path that connects some of the municipality's most visited places, IKEA Museum, Linné's Råshult, and Åsnen National Park, with connections to national trails.

The pre-study is conducted in close collaboration between the municipality, businesses, associations, and landowners and will lay the foundation for future investments in cycling tourism, local development, and sustainable place development in Älmhult.

The board's motivation
The project has good timing in relation to the development of bike paths and connects both actors and places in a way that has not previously been done in the area. It makes the countryside more attractive as a place to visit.

Note that the Swedish Board of Agriculture makes the formal decision.
