Do you want to highlight your local musical treasures? We are seeking contributions for the international exhibition ”TRADITIONAL MUSIC CONNECTS EUROPE” in Finland. The theme of the exhibition is Europe's musical heritage and aims to increase knowledge about music traditions and cultural heritage from different countries. However, the goal is not to represent an entire country but to showcase the local musical heritages that may not always be visible internationally. This can take the form of everything from musical pieces, songs, and dances to folk costumes and events – anything related to your music tradition!
The competition is open to everyone in the municipalities of Alvesta, Växjö, Ljungby, Älmhult, Markaryd, Värnamo, and Sävsjö.
Here's how to compete:
- The contribution must be shareable digitally. Examples of this include an audio file, music on a streaming platform, a video with dance, a recorded concert, a gallery on a website, or similar.
- Please include a short description of your contribution and a brief presentation of you as competitors.
- Your contribution needs to include a link where it can be listened to or viewed (e.g., on YouTube, Spotify, or a website). Alternatively, you can submit a file with the contribution that we will help you publish digitally, e.g., as an MP3. You can also send larger files via sharing link, e.g., with Dropbox or WeTransfer.
- Feel free to complement with photographs of instruments, sheet music, folk costumes, and other music-related items. You can also include texts and images about your locality and local history.
- It is possible to compete individually or in groups, and you can submit multiple contributions.

Winners
We will send 5 selected contributions to represent Sweden. These will be presented on-site in Finland with a QR code to the material, an attached description, and images. They will also be highlighted with a digital campaign. The winners will be chosen by a jury and notified by May 20th at the latest.

The competition is organized by Leader Linné within the project ”Expedition Cultural Heritage,” which is a collaboration between Leader Linné Småland, the Study Association Vuxenskolan Kronoberg, and Coompanion Kronoberg.The exhibition is organized by Leader Pohjois-Satankunta Finland. Both of these initiatives are co-financed by the European Union.
